There were 108 press releases published by the U.S. Department of Labor in February.

The most recent press release, "US Department of Labor effort to improve compliance, awareness in Southeast agricultural industry, protect vulnerable farmworkers continues," was submitted on Feb. 28.

The U.S. Department of Labor published 70 releases the month before, marking a 54.3 percent increase for the current month.

The Department provides billions in unemployment insurance, which peaked around 2011 though spending had declined before the pandemic. Downsizing the Federal Government, a project aimed at lowering taxes and boosting federal efficiency, claimed the Department funds "ineffective and duplicative services" and overregulates the workplace.

The proposed budget provides a significant boost to the DOL’s funding from $12.5 billion to $14.2 billion, a 13.6% increase.
