The Us Department Of Labor Recovers $ 167,000 In Back Wages And Damages For 56 Employees Who Were Denied Overtime By A Utah Restaurant Operator

Research results: The Hours and Wages Division from the US Department of Labor. USA found that the taco restaurant operator paid regular time for all hours worked and in doing so, did not pay overtime for hours over 40 in a work week, in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act. The division also found that the employer did not keep the accurate hour records required by law.

Overdue wages recovered: $ 83,539 in back wages and $ 83,539 in damages for 56 workers

Appointment: “ Jurassic Street Tacos denied its workers the wages that corresponded to them by not paying them the overtime rate required by federal law. Unfortunately, this type of violation is a common malpractice in the food service industry and deprives too many workers of their full payment ”, said District Director of the Hours and Wages Division Kevin Hunt in Salt Lake City. “ We encourage employers to contact us to ensure that they understand the laws governing payment practices so that they can avoid the costly consequences of not complying with the law ”.
