Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith (MO-08) issued the following statement after participating in a bipartisan congressional delegation meeting with Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen:

“Today’s meeting with President Tsai reinforced the bipartisan commitment in Congress to strengthen our nation’s enduring partnership with Taiwan. We had a good bilateral conversation about how the economic relationship between our two countries can benefit both American farmers and workers. Taiwan serves as a key ally in our efforts to help locate strategic supply chains outside of adversarial nations and is an important friend in the region. The United States and Taiwan share significant ties that will continue to grow as we share a devotion to democracy and a free society.”
