“Too often Washington’s trade policies have failed to protect American workers, families, farmers, and small businesses, and when any competitive advantage is ceded to communist China, it means American workers lose out. That is unacceptable. We must establish a level playing field on which to compete with China while enforcing existing trade laws. The Ways and Means Committee’s first field hearing on Trade in America taking place in Staten Island will focus on how the United States can hold China accountable, stop unfair and illicit trade practices, secure our critical supply chains, and ensure America has the tools to compete and win. As Chairman, I am committed to giving Americans directly impacted by these issues a voice in developing policies that will refocus America’s trade agenda on protecting workers and strengthening our economy.”
