”After months of uncertainty at the hands of Republicans, President Biden secured an agreement that prevents default and protects Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid alongside other programs seniors and working families rely on. Let’s not forget how we got here: Republicans voted through $10 trillion in tax cuts for their wealthy donors over the last 25 years and then threatened to make the American people pay the price. Even as they cry for “fiscal responsibility” on the Floor, they’re planning another round of handouts for megacorporations and the top 1%. It’s clear who they’re working for, and it certainly isn’t the American people.
