The following press release was published by the House Committee on Education and Labor on June 22. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON - Today, the House passed H. Res. 461, which condemns the use of public schools for housing illegal aliens instead of educating students. During debate of the legislation, Education and the Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC) gave the following remarks on the House Floor:

“To sum up the debate, H. Res. 461 does four things.

“It sends a clear message about our values.

“It condemns law-breaking where Democrat politicians have failed to do so.

“It tells parents that we are on their side.

“And most importantly, it reiterates that public school facilities should be used for educating children, not housing illegal immigrants. Because the academic success and safety of America’s students must be put first."
