A bipartisan markup involves cooperation and securing a fundamental agreement between the Chair and Ranking Member on the legislation considered by the committee. This focus on bipartisanship and passing bills that get signed into law has set the HELP Committee apart from other Senate committees.

“For almost a decade and a half, this Committee has committed to work past partisanship to produce meaningful legislation,” said Dr. Cassidy. “One of the last bastions of bipartisanship in Congress is being eroded. For what? For the majority to shamelessly message on controversial bills that will not pass the Senate, let alone be signed into law.”

The Committee will be marking up three partisan labor bills including the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act of 2023, the Paycheck Fairness Act, and the Healthy Families Act.
