The following press release was published by the House Committee on Education and Labor on July 17. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON - Today, Education and the Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC) issued the following statement after the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) released its final rule that would re-instate provisions of the controversial Obama-era recordkeeping rule:

“OSHA is putting job creators through the wringer-again. This final rule will not do a thing to improve workplace safety and will instead impose more regulatory hurdles for businesses to jump through. In this final rule, the administration intends to reward its Big Labor allies and to continue its crusade against job creators.

“When the harmful provisions of the Obama-era rule were originally rescinded, it was largely due to the opposition of the regulated community which voiced concerns about the privacy of workers’ personal information and the unfair targeting of job creators.

“For OSHA to bring back this rule despite these concerns goes to show how this administration thinks it knows more than the men and women who go to work every day and earn a living.

“This rule is government overreach and needless bureaucratic red tape at its finest."
